Ozzie

The background of Ozzie's family:

Ozzie's older sister is a mix (Beagle, Lab, German Sheppard Mix)  and was rescued 11 years ago from a high kill shelter in VA.  She was approx. 6 months old.  when she came into the family and needed to be fixed. Everything went well and she came home the same night.  Several hours later she still wasn't responding to us or was she able to stand up on her own.  So, we rushed her to another Vet that was open all hours of the night and found out that she was having a reaction to the medications from the surgery and was in critical condition.  She made it through the night and was able to come home.  She is about 11 years old now and his healthy as healthy can get except she is on a diet to loose some weight.

Ozzie's older brother is an over sized Standard Doxie. And, what I mean by over sized is that he is very big boned but, he is solid muscle weighing in at 28lbs.  He is 8 years old and came into our family when the Puppy Mill he was born at  shut down.  I was told by the Rescue that both his parents had to be put down as his mom was around age 5 and his dad was only 3 years old.  They were filled with fleas, ticks and ear mites, heart worms and deformities in their legs and paws from being on wire their whole lives along with a few other issues.  When I received Jake, at 5 weeks old,  he had ear mites and was diagnosed with a class 3 heart murmur.  I had to bottle feed him for 2 weeks as he wasn't eating food yet.  He has turned into a very handsome boy who still has a class 3 heart murmur and due to the murmur he isn't fixed as the Vet told me he would have a great chance of dying during the surgery and it wasn't worth it.  So, I opted not to have him fixed.  He is followed closely by the Vet for his heart murmur, cancer checks, and also his Epilepsy.   He is on phenobarbital for it.

Now, you would think having just a brother and sister was enough for Ozzie well, nope that isn't the case.  Ozzie also has another older brother who is a short haired domestic cat.  He is 12 years old and acts like Garfield.  All he does is eat and sleep.  He has been like that since he came to our home after being rescued from the local shelter.  And, with that Ozzie also has a 6 year old Chinchilla brother who was also a rescue. Everyone gets  These guys are both very healthy.

Now, that you have met all of Ozzie's brothers and sister it's time to give you Ozzie's story.  However, before I move onto his story I just want to say this to everyone......  Im not here to judge how everyone chose their four legged kids/babies/pets as it doesn't matter as we all have our own reasons why they came into our lives. The main thing is they came into our lives and are getting the love and attention that every baby should receive.    However, what I want to do and what I promised Ozzie I would do is to help and possibly inform people of their choices out there and what to look for when purchasing a loveable companion.  If we all would be aware of where we pass on our money too then maybe majority of the puppy mills, back yard breeders (and Im not talking about the breeders who breed their dogs the correct way),  and hoarders then maybe we wouldn't have as many of these sweet dogs in rescues looking for a loveable home they can be at forever.  And, with that I leave you to my next post ........All about Ozzie.  :)
